Terry - I am now able to execute ThisForm.pageframe1.page1.Details.refresh after getting similiar advise from Beth. Are you suggesting that my grid object might be located on the pageframe, rather than page1? I imagine that is not the case, since the hierarchy I listed (that works) implies that my grid (now named Details) is a child of thisform.pageframe1.page1.

So referencing my grid is no longer a problem - thanks Beth and Terry!!!

Now back to my original problem - why are the records in the grid read-only?
