>I once saw a picture of John Wayne relaxing in some rather tight checked shorts and with what looked very like a handbag slung over his shoulder. I wish I had kept it as I've never seen any other picture of him like that. It was a real reminder that he was an actor and very successful at presenting a certain image.

Well... after all, his real name was Marion, not John. ;)

>>< g > Reminds me of the time when I was working at another company about 20 years ago or so. There was a woman in the office who was a true rasslin' fan (let's call her Shirl). She was really into it. Anyway, one day someone else and I were talking, and I don't recall how we got on the topic, but we were discussing how much rehearsal a rasslin' match might need. Little did I know that Shirl was standing behind me, and she was angry. She snarled at me, "Telling me that wrestling is fake is like telling a kid there's no Santa Claus." I said, "No, Shirl, telling you wrestling is fake is like telling a 30 year old there's no Santa Claus."

>>>You mean John Wayne wasn't really a cowboy war hero and cop ! . I'm gutted.

>>>>>>>Aye but The Apprentice is sorta topical. And 3 series behind! It's like the BBC waits for them to depreciate in value as time goes by before buying them.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Of the UK series you mention, only The Vicar is worth watching and I never watch the others.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Hey, there's a series here called "The Midsommer Murders" about a village of that name. You might want to check that one out. Only there's more mayhem in this sleepy English village than in the whole of the Bronx! Their homicide rate excedes that for the whole UK! ha ha!
>>>>>>
>>>>>>We get that here on the Ontario public station (TVO). It's not a bad show at all.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>I still can't believe though, that people actually watch 'Apprentice' of all things. I'd rather watch bowling. Well, ok, maybe not bowling... but you get my drift.

>>>>>>>>Hey, don't feel bad. I've been watching reruns of 'Waiting For God', 'As Time Goes By', 'Vicar of Dibley', and 'Are You Being Served' for years :o) Worst of all, they are reruns that I watched years ago! My favorites now are 'Rosemary and Thyme' and the 'Inspector Lynley' series. To be expected though since I think I've probably read every British Mystery written (I know I've read all of Elizabeth George's books - funny that she was born in Ohio!)... :o)

>>>>>>>>>>>Mind you, come to think of it, I WAS a bit confused when one of the final tests was to run a sports extravaganza in NYC, as part of their bid to win the 2012 Olympics (which we all know London got last year). So I suppose this was a year or 2 ago. Hmmmmm

>>>>>>>>>>>>I don't get the BBC version of the Apprentice - although others may in other areas of the country or with more BBC options (different cable versions or they may have satellite). On NBC here it is a different version entirely. The next season starts in January and a male won it the last time (Sean).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>I don't suppose it was actually, but last night I watched the "Live Final" of The Apprentice. I don't suppose it was simult. with The US? I think the best 2 gals were there at the end.
