He used his illness just as Christopher Reeve did when he lobbied for stem cell research to seek a cure for spinal injuries. Frankly, if I or any family member of mine had a disease which stem cell research (or any specific research track) held hopes for a cure, I would do everything and anything I could to get it approved. If that meant not taking medication (personally I think medication which covers a disease is actually more dishonest than taking no medication and showing the effects of a disease) and doing an ad or commerical I would do it and I wouldn't hold it against anyone else who did either. If my daughter had any disease which might benefit from new research, I would be on the street corner with a sign (as I see the dedicated christians doing for prayer and much more) BEGGING for support for the research.

>>I dunno about the details because I'm not a Rush listener. I have to work. But....if Fox films a political ad highlighting his handicap, doesn't an opposing opinion have the same right?
>>
>>What is bothering me is that it seems there is an intolerance to allow anyone to speak againt the views of someone afflicted with a disease.

>Michael J Fox filmed a political ad in 2004 supporting the candidacy or Senator Arlen Specter (Republican), because Specter supports stem cell research. Michael Fox supports any candidate (no matter which party if they support stem cell research).

>What bothers me is where were the right-wing talking heads (Limbaugh included) then? I don't recall them making a scene at the time. So it's open season when he supports a Democrat but don't criticise him when he supports a Republican? The issue then and now is exactly the same. You might have noticed that the right-wing talking heads do not critisize the message, but the messenger. Par for the course for them.
