That is my point (not expressed very well) - it doesn't reverse the disease only mitigate the effects of the disease (which is essentially masking them). (I have a relative with Parkinson's as well which makes me wonder how prevalent it really is). The medicine really just masks the symptoms but it does also make functioning much easier as well. My point was that not taking the medicine in order to demonstrate the effect of Parkinson's in a person's daily life should not be frowned upon or ridiculed (if that was done).

>>Still, I see nothing wrong with that at all - if anything, the meds only disguise the effects of the disease anyway.

>That's not quite right. My dad has Parkinson's and with the medication, his voice is stronger, his balance is better, and lots of other stuff. The medication doesn't reverse the disease, but it reduces its effects.
