>But perhaps your clients will also want an app that will be running on their new Computers 10 years from now or they don't care with that?

>>>Also was interested to know why People that develop profressional Software would start new projects (and this is more for companies that develop software for selling) with VFP and SQL server instead of .NET and SQL server or JAVA and mysql ...

>>I don't know about others, but I start a new project with VFP and MySQL because I can get it done on time. I have tried to learn .Net and have found it exceedingly complicated to work with. There are so many separate pieces you have to learn, to do what is simple in VFP. My customers just want the job done.
My customers have problems today, they aren't overly concerned with 10 years from now. If their problems aren't taken care of today, they may not be here in 10 years. At the rate our industry has changed since I joined it in 1975, there is no way to know what will be available nor how it will work 10 years from now. I do know that all applications eventually get rewritten or thrown away. Right now VFP has what I need to solve problems in business and data applications quickly. When and if VFP outlives it's usefulness, I will switch to something as good or better.
