Solution in sight? Probably. The first step is to call it for what it is, a failure and a civil war. Once this current outfit comes to terms with reality, they can start planning under proper assumptions. By keeping the "stay the course" stupid slogan for a long time and denying the reality of the situation, they basically shot themselves on the foot by not doing proper planning.
