Not really my place to comment because I was born in 1965 and have never been in the military, but it seems to me we had just as many social problems in the 60's (perhaps even more) than we do now - so I'm not so sure how helpful the draft really was or would be as far as helping social issues.

>Hello? In 1970, my draft number was 86. I enlisted in my branch of choice before being drafted. I was in college and had no deferment. They drafted up to #188 that year.

>I hope they bring back the draft and force everyone to do 2 years like most other countries in the world. There would be a hell of a lot less problems in society if we did so. It is a life-changing event for those who have had the opportunity to serve. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

>>hmph, what so repulsive? I suppose if they bring the draft back, that they won't be drafting the kids that stayed in school and went to college, they'll draft the dropouts just like they did before!
>>And in case you didnt notice this is a major threat to your kids right inside the walls of your public schools - it's called military recruiters!
>>
>>>This is truly repulsive. I am so glad I did not vote for this guy (not that I ever had the intentions)
>>>This is NOT Rush Libmbaugh that sometimes talks out of his behind this guy wanted/want to be the Commander in Chief.
