In 6 years I have not seen SQL Server 'crash'. I have seen disk controllers and motherboards fail, but never the software.

For fixing databases, there are built-in sql commands for checking the consistiency and repairing a database. But only an experienced DBA should use them. Your best bet is a good maintenance plan.
