No, nothing funny with the war, just the wording, maybe it is not even wrong, but I read it as "If Nixon wouldn't have ended it (the war), I would've done it (ending the war)" (and I believe I am not wording this sentence right!), but it might be my weak English. Anyways, I was just joking no intention to offend you or anyone.
