No, nothing funny with the war, just the wording, maybe it is not even wrong, but I read it as "If Nixon wouldn't have ended it (the war), I would've done it (ending the war)" (and I believe I am not wording this sentence right!), but it might be my weak English. Anyways, I was just joking no intention to offend you or anyone.

The thought of me being drafted into an army to go kill someone on the other side of the world scared the cr*p out of me. Knowing people with sons and brothers being killed there did a lot to change my world view.
