I know it is a bit long-winded, but when you check out all the files it will be the responsibility of VSS to make the files read-write (or I maybe totally wrong on this, the previous attribute, so if it was read-only before, even after checking it out it will be read-only). In case you have files that are made Read-Only by mistake, you will be able to catch the files now.
