This is going to come out sounding snotty, but I think my kid can serve his country better doing something other than serving as a soldier. He has brains and leadership ability and I have no doubt that he will contribute to the betterment of our country and the world. Right now, college is the right place for him. (And fwiw, he is volunteering as a tutor in a New Haven public school this year.)
