Thank for your advise and help. I appreciated that very much. As for the question of 'how to capture DOS output from win to win output', I actually refer to general DOS program which always open a DOS prompt windows in win95.
That is not what I want. I want the DOS program to run at the background, all it output is capture by me, which I may not want, but only want to read back its return DOS value. I think u disinterpret my question.
As for the zip program, which is better, Dynazip or Xceedzip, why ? I am considering purchase one of the zip program for my company use.

If you want to show the status or progess of the operation (like % complete, or filename zipped), you'll have to run PKZIP for each file seperately, read the results each time, update the user, and proceed to the next file - cause FoxPro won't be able to read the text file you are redirecting to until the ZIP operation is complete. I used to do it this way in the DOS days....
