Live, from the city of Angels....

- A 4-4 record is hardly a death sentence, but Carolina needs to seriously step it up a notch. Once upon a time, Carolina walked into Philly in the NFC Title game, and bullied the Eagles. They just don't look hungry, as evidenced by the Sunday night meltdown. With the Giants, Philly, Atlanta, and the Saints on their dance card for Christmas, it's time for a serious gut-check.

- OK, I'm convinced. Michael Vick can play this game. But mark my word, his defense will let him down eventually.

- Mark M. was right - the Eagles had their Super Bowl three weeks ago (the Dallas game). And they've been hung over ever since.

- Just when I thought Dallas was doomed, they pulled a rabbit out of hat. The Romo kid looked good. But Parcells just looks tired.

- In the Dick Vermeil era, KC's victories were usually mistake-free blow-outs. Under Herman Edwards, they've beaten two playoff caliber teams despite many mental and physical mistakes. Hmmm....

- What a difference a week makes, the whacky AFC North. One week, the Ravens appear to be running away with the division....then the next, the Steelers and Bengals are on their heels....then a week later, the Ravens are on top again. If the Ravens beat the Bengals this Sunday at the Big Crabcake, the Bengals are looking at a big deficit. Chad Johnson should forget about 'ocho-cinco' on his jersey, and think about 'och-seis' ...as in, 86 the act.

- Finally, someone beats Denver. OK, I won't belittle Indy's victory with a yawn. I also won't say anything special about them, until they win a game in January.

- The key to beating the Chargers....stop LaDainian Tomlinson.

- I can't pick on the Raiders anymore...at least not their defense. But I can pick on the Cardinals. Remember the Mad Libs game we played as kids? There's a new form of Mad Libs, a special edition for Denny Green. It goes...

'YOU WANT TO CROWN THE __________??? GO AHEAD AND CROWN THEM!!!' [insert football team]

- If Jeff Fischer can weather the storm, the Titans might actually be pretty good next year.

- The SF 49ers have the worst defense in football - and yet they're only 2 games back in the NFC West.

- OK, NOW the Tampa Bay Bucs are done.

- I've been critical of Brett Favre playing this year - but I'll give him credit for making the Pack competitive.

- The Saints have been a great story....but they appeared very human against the Ravens. They have a brutal second-half schedule. If they even finish 10-6, I nominate Sean Payton for NFL coach of the year.

- I can't wait for the Indy - New England game. It will be a classic.

- The Bears keep rolling. But between the Giants and Patriots, they are sure to lose at least one, and possibly both. That's OK - what's more important is how they recover from them. These two teams could be playing in late January, so this game means a ton to the G-men.

- Quick question....which NFL teams have yet to register a win in their own conference? answer...Detroit and Washington. Given that both teams blow right now, I couldn't think of anyting else to say.
