Use the ALTER TABLE syntax instead of the GUI.


>I wanted to make a change to a table allowing some columns to have NULL value. The table has about 500,000 rows. But SQL Server times out when trying to update the table. First SQL Server gives a warning that such a procedure may take a lot of time. Then it times out.
