I agree with you, that there are no exact replacements for these commands, because these commands are for retrieving and/or manipulating data going the "good old" XBase way. Some would say "old fashioned".<s>
But there exist many development environements that don't have commands like these and many of them don't even have their own database engine, which is true for .NET as well, but I can't imagine, that this will really be the reason for not using or switching to .NET. There are other ways to get the same result in .NET as the commands above.
