Over the last couple of weeks, we've received four large glossy postcards proclaiming:

"On [fill in the issue], There's No Difference."

Then an explanation of how Santorum and Casey have the same view on whichever issue this is and three others. The issues include abortion, same-sex marriage, stem cells and gun control.

The postcard says it comes from the Progressive Policy Council, "a not-for-profit organization seeking to educate the public and to advocate for progressive public policy solutions for contemporary social issues." Website is www.progressivepolicycouncil.org.

Each time we've received one, we've wondered what the point was, since it doesn't tell us to vote for someone else or what to do about it. (The cards also distort Casey's positions, to some extent.)

So, last night, we learned that this is the work of a Republican politico, hoping to reduce Democratic turn-out. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/15917651.htm

Interestingly, the cards have a Virginia PO Box as return address, and a Horsham, PA bulk mail permit. WhoIs on the website turns up Yarmouth, Nova Scotia as the registered address.

Nasty, nasty, nasty.
