You are about to be disappointed in me. I didn't vote today. And in fact can't, short of humping it an hour each way down to Evanston to vote there. I don't even know who is running in the local elections there. It's been over a year and a half since I moved. I went to my local polling place this morning and the lady there confirmed what I suspected: if you aren't preregistered to vote here, you can't vote. You can come back on Thursday and change your voting address, she added. I must give off some Democratic/independent pheremones because she seemed quite pleased to let me know this.

It probably doesn't matter that I didn't vote. My vote here means squat. We have discussed this before. Lake County is solidly Republican. Not wing nuts, thank goodness, but focused on wallets, "traditional values", and the status quo.
