--Sheesh, I got all sorts of stick for daring to raise the issue of autospanning cursors right here, so he'd have to be a fool to go somewhere where you make it sound as if everybody knows they are right, apparently don't know WHY they are right, but certainly know how to bully and attack any heathen who dares to suggest their emperor has no clothes.

I'm only speaking from my own perspective - if I were to make a wish-list of features in ADO.NET, auto-spanning would be way down on my list. 4.5 years of working with .NET, and I have yet to encounter that need. [And no, that doesn't mean that I've had 'light' data munging requirements]. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, I've just never had the need....and I'd be willing to bet that if you asked other .NET developers about their ADO.NET wish list, they'd probably agree.
