>Gee, if more Americans would agree with you, it would work out great. Everyone who thinks that the government should provide universal health care and welfare and anything required to take care of any citizen not able to take care of themselves can start paying 40% taxes regardless of their income bracket and those of us who feel differently can pay 10% (to cover the real responsibilities of the government). :o) I like that idea... :o)
The problem with that idea, of course, is that everyone would very quickly become a believer in the second option.
>Actually, I have no problem with a well-managed universal health care system (I would actually look forward to it) that also promoted research and development and a high standard of care and choice. The problem is that anything universally managed or managed by the government in this country has turned out to be a fiasco. If it was done right it shouldn't even require higher taxes if our government started controlling pork barrel spending and stopped funding every country other than its own. Now we are not talking about universal health care or welfare or food stamps or charity but a complete system overhaul! I still say we all relocate to Canada! :o)
If you've never committed a serious crime, you'd be rejected. Sorry.
>>>There are many organizations dedicated to helping the less fortunate. >As for those who can't hack the 'dog-eat-dog' society. I feel zero sympathy. Make better choices in life. The world is full of 'challenged' individuals, be they mental, physical or sociological, who have had great success in their life. It is not luck, it is a matter of will and desire. If you can't hack it then maybe natural selection should run it's course. Pharma doesn't create the problem, nature does.
