From a happy Opera user:
1. I never got accustomed to using the "Copy" option - perhaps precisely because I use Opera for a long time now.
2. I don't have any problem with the splitter.
I did have serious problems with UT - and several other sites! - when upgrading to Opera 9.x. I went back to 8.54, which works great. I will try a more recent version - eventually.
