It has been steadily changing since 1990. Last I heard, 415 of the Army’s 451 military occupational specialties are open to women. There is a very thin line and other than physical limitations, there really is little most women cannot do. Every women is not the same and neither is every man. That is why there are mental and physical endurance tests required for selection. Makes sense. Women cannot be in roles which
typically are considered direct combat roles. In reality that occurs all the time though. For instance, during Just Cause I was a Spanish Linguist Interrogator. I got deployed with an infantry unit patrolling for weapons caches and 'interviewing' detainees. There were 125 men and myself marching along. Following that, I spent months with the DEA and Special Operations guys in the interior. There are very few jobs which don't risk enemy fire these days. The question is whether or not the person can handle the physical and endurance requirements of some jobs.

>Which positon can't women have in the military? For sure they can have any rank. But I've heard that they can't be "front line". Does they mean they can be fighter pilots, bomber pilots, chopper pilots marines, infantry, sailors, tank commanders as long as they are right in the front cusp of battle? What defines the front line vs other forward positions?
