I have seen many reports and specials about disabled American vets who returned from Iraqi. Some get no care or limited care in relation to his/her needs. We have a VA Hospital not far from here (Palo Alto) that was featured on PBS the other evening. What a way to treat our vets!

I can not imagine the disruption to the lives of those service personal who rotate in and out of Iraq. Loss of job, house, business, marriage are just some of the problems these folks face.

My father served as a Marine during WWII. He went through many battles the last one being Okinawa. He stayed in the reserves and got called up for Korea on September 12, 1950. He lost his business, home, and we never saw or heard from him again. He simply deserted the family. That left an impact on our family that I will never forget. It does allow a then 8-year-old to grow up very quickly.

Imagine all the lives touched in this country due to the war in Iraq ("The War on Terror"), those who assist us in Iraq as well as the Iraqi people. There are so many casualties in so many different categories. The number must be in the millions.

By the way Tracy, I would like to know something. Since we are involved in a preemptive war, and according to the president we are still at war (shift from Saddam Hussein to “terrorists”) why is it we have a Secretary of Defense?

Would it be more correct to have a Secretary of War?

>>How many cutbacks in the military did we have under Bush? Oh yes, we have spent more but for the war. Bush and the republicans did not support our troops in Iraq as they should have.

>One of the things that have really infuriated me. All the money spent on rebuilding Iraq and defense spending and as usual - it didn't go where it should have...
