It's weird how being behind a wheel suddenly devalues human life. It's bad enough here (with some of the safest roads in the world) when aggressive idiots tail-gate you on the motorways, to force you out of their way, but in Italy I was once driving on an unlit motorway, doing some 80 MPH and, looking in my mirror, all I could see was the bonnet (hood) of the car behind me, filling the window. EVERYBODY knows about safe stopping distances (just as everybody knows about switching off elec. appliances rather than leaving them on stand-by) yet so many just ignore the facts. And in teh case of driving, it's their lives at stake.

Like I said, there they also overtake on blind hairpin bends. Trouble is, if they're overtaking (passing) you then it's YOU at risk also if they come to grief.
