I've just experimented with this, in VFP7, and it works just as you say. Did I hear/read somewhere that modern codes of practice allow only for the appending of a record to the end of a table. Because of table locking, and shunting all other reecs along while doing it. But, then again, I don't see why VFP7 allows it but not 9. Sorry.
