Hilmar;

I think it is reasonable to retain your value system. Not accepting the latest trend in social order does not necessarily mean that one is intolerant. Jumping on the bandwagon of the latest anti social act is not for everyone. It takes time for new ideas to become acceptable by the majority.

I can see society becoming like the George Lucas film, “THX 1138”. Men and women will be separated and everyone will be on drugs to control behavior. You will be monitored constantly. We will live underground. The authorities will “be there to help you”, with cattle prods. Everyone will be stoned to the point of incapacity. To not take your “medication” will be an anti social act and you will be punished.

Enjoy the present. Enjoy the future. It will help you to move into the future if you allow others to shape your value system on a constant basis. Forget everything you were taught and accept what the last person who talked to you professes. Listen to others and let them think for you. Society should not be about order but rather change.

Tom

P.S. I hope you understand my meaning! :)

>Yes.

>Although I agree with one and not with the other, I think they are somehow related: people don't simply accept what they have been told for generations is the right thing to do; rather, all institutions, customs, etc. are being questioned. In a way, this is a good thing. Let's just hope that whatever remains, eventually, will assist the well-being of all.
