The mistake you are making, imo, is that you believe homosexuality is a life style choice rather than a genetic pre-disposition.

In terms of your chosen religion the first scenario, life-style choice, is un-acceptable but ultimately this un-acceptability is based on your prior acceptance of your religion as the norm.

If, on the other hand, you believe in the second scenario, genetic pre-disposition, and you are also religious then your God has created, or allowed for, homosexuality in her grand scheme of things. Hence it must be natural. But in terms of your chosen religion this is not acceptable. So we must assume it cannot be genetic pre-disposition and assume it has to be a life-style choice made by people who are in "need of help".
