Hi Jeff.
>Should there be any issues with run time users importing reports? I have created new reports for a deployed project. When any of the users try to import these reports an error message is displayed stating they do not have rights to import reports. Is this a function only available to Professional Users? Is this the preferred way to deploy new reports?
Runtime users can import reports, and yes, this is the preferred way to deploy new reports. That error message indicates there's a security issue with the report. For example, perhaps it uses a data group the user doesn't have access to (controlled in the Maintain Users and Groups dialog). Perhaps the report was defined to only be available to members of certain groups, of which this users isn't a member.
It's also possible the security for the user is a little messed up; I've seen that when REPORTS.* and/or SECURITY.* are moved around independently rather than together. To fix that, run SQ with a parameter of "ACTION=FIXSECURITY".
One last possibility: I've seen cases where the security node in the SFX file is empty, so SQ can't determine what security is needed at import time. Email me the SFX file and I'll take a look.
Doug
