>Sure doesn't. It's only my doubt that when we say "this is natural and that is not" we actually don't have a clue what nature thinks. We only express our... prejudice, preference, opinion or just our narrow view on common sense.

In George Bernard Shaw's play Caesar and Cleopatra the Egyptian priests are explaining a custom to Caesar, much to the horror of his secretary ( a Briton - whom GBS uses to satyrize the attitudes of the British middle class )

Caesar, whose age and experience has given him a more cosmopolitan view, says to the Egyptian high priest:

"Forgive him, Theodotus, for he is a barbarian and, like all members of his race he thinks that the customs of his tribe are the laws of nature."

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
