>Mike Y - did you get a chance to test if the odd mouse behavior that I described with dropdown lists is still a problem in VFP9? I created a Dropdown List type combobox as you described, using the same commas seperated values as you. But the location of the mouse pointer was still a problem, causing the dropdown list to close upon a keystroke *if* the mose pointer is within the list area... Thanks Mike!

I changed it from Style 0 DropDown Combo to Style 2 DropDown List. There is no such problem in 9 with either setting. I don't have 6 to confirm your findings, sorry.

There are benefits in 9 for both programmers and users. Once you get used to 9 you regret being dropped into a project using 6.

>I'm not sure I really understand your comment below. Many seasoned VFP programmers have told me there's no big rush to upgrade to VFP 9 (from 6). I guess there is no universal agreement on this...

There's no universal agreement on anything. There are bugs fixed in every version of VFP.

>>>Good point - I am sure I will update soon. But I see lots of commercial appls that are written in VFP6 (or 5), so assumed that these earlier versions were tried and true. In the mean time, if anyone else (in addiotn to Mike Yearwood) could confirm whether Dropdown List comboboxes have been fixed in VFP 9, I would be very grateful! He came up with a very simple test using Values instead of Fields or Alias...

>>I don't agree with the learn something like you're in kindergarten, cause frankly you're not 5 anymore. :)

>>I'd rather learn from a book that says here's all you need to know to use MODERN FoxPro and ignore all the rest.

>>>>no offence intended, but if you are a newbie to VFP, and since so many features have been added, and so many bugs have been fixed, why don't you upgrade NOW? It's a big chance that you are actually spending a lot of time on something which has been fixed or changed in newser versions. If time is money, you lose money every hour you don't upgrade. Intellisense itself is enough reason to upgrade.
