I see that you have given stars to some solutions. However, you have not given stars to the best solution. The merit of giving stars is that others who search for a solution to some problem are helped by it. I think that my solution (which by the way isn't invented by me at all) deserves three stars. Fabio's reaction contains an erroneous mention, because the zero must be passed as a string, not as a number. Moreover, passing the alias is obliged. And also the way that an id is created is not the issue here. Whether it is created in a fraction of a millisecond or in 10 seconds is not the issue, because in both cases the lock of the header record will take care that no one else can claim the same id.
