>>>When I was in London in 1977 there was a drought ongoing then. The Thames looked like a stream compared to normal (as seen in pictures).

>>You sure that wasn't '76? That was the BIG long hot summer, of droughts, stand-pipes in the streets, no rain all summer.

>Queen's Jubilee year, which I'm pretty sure was 1977. Early July.

Yes that was Jubilee year. I just don't remember it being anything like the famous previous year. That and 1987 (the year of the great hurricane that destroyed 15 m + trees) are of the few weather years of note, that everyone remembers.

>>>I don't think that San Francisco is as wet as Vancouver. I was there a total of 12 days over the last 2 months and had one real rainy day and one day of intermittent showers.

>>Those are still (Indian) summer months though. Like I said, WE hardly had any rain all October.

>Well here "Indian Summer" seems a thing of the past. Another indication of global warming I guess.

You mean you don't get them any more? Just cos you haven't had one for a while, doesn't mean they won't happen; after all, they aren't every year, are they.
