I don't know if you are aware of the costs to migrate our application to SQL Server but it requires additional months of preparation to handle all that. We just can't go to SQL Server presently.

Also, the access to the data from a .NET approach has been mentioned in the other message. But, there are also a tons of other non .NET applicatios accessing it and all those need to be converted in time one by one.
