Just the same as my experience with Cyrillic text anywhere: if you put it in the UTF-8 capable text field, or via the browser, which changes each letter into a HTML entity, like this:

then it works. If you try to put it into a simple textbox or any other character field, you can expect weird effects. Probably your message title was too long, since each non-Latin character gets represented by seven bytes.
