There are certainly things you can do now, to minimize the risk of data corruption with VFP.

But if you are able to migrate to SQL Server [i.e., you can afford it, you have the resources, etc.] and access your data from your VFP code, then you should do so. SQL Server is a better back-end database than VFP and provides better built-in protection.
