SQL would receive

"insert into sometable (nam"

and an error would be generated.

I guess I'm asking for someone to please demonstrate how SQL Server could lose data due to a PC power failure.

The data is lost in your example. ;-)

The issue is that SQL Server is not a magic bullet if there is an infrastructure fault causing PC freezing. Obviously it is not SQL Server *causing* the loss, but the data is nevertheless gone.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
