I agree with you, I do not believe that SQL server will accept a truncated statement, but, wouldn't it be fun if it indeed process a truncated statement? Imagine an Update command that just missed the "where" clause but still is a valid statement. Unfortunately, even then you have the transactions log to fix the problem, right?
