I thought you might like this, a quote in pro football weekly from an NFL scout when asked about Plummer. I think it hits the nail on the head, and is reason #1 for Cutler coming in:

“If the running game’s not going for them and you get some pressure in his face, he’s going to force things,” the scout told PFW. “It’s been his reputation his whole career, and nothing’s changed. If he gets someone around him, he’s going to make a bad decision. It may not come early, but you know it’s going to come. He’s a good quarterback, but when the chips are down, you know he’s going to come back to form. I don’t think he’s a special player, and certainly not a championship-level quarterback, and they’d be wise getting the kid (Jay Cutler) in there because Jake is making rookie mistakes.”
