I'm having great luck with it. I recently had to reimage my work machine and corporate IT put IE 6.0 back on it. IE 7 is high on my install list.
As for problem web sites, Microsoft has a tool that will spoof them and make them think you're using IE6. Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/support/default.mspx and expand "My favorite web sites don't load correctly". You'll see the link to download the tool.
