We bought digital, cable-free home phones over 10 years ago. I was disturbed to read on the bumff that you should renew the batteries every 6 months. We're still using the origs. One stays most the time in the entrance hall, in its recharger/base whereas the other gets moved around the house. The supposed stand-by time of some 60 hours still holds for the static phone but the other now runs out very quickly.
Funny to think that in that time a visitor once mistook the set for a mobile :-)
