>>I hope someone knocks through the cockiness of youth and convinces him this is his chance and a second chance is not guaranteed.

>Isn't the youthful cockiness what makes him a good QB though? I don't watch a lot of Bears games (this is Vikings country), but don't you think his down-the-field no limit throwing style is what makes them a good team, and is a result of his cockiness?

>I'd trade him for Brad Johnson any day of the week.

It's what makes him good and it's also what makes him horrid (like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead). I have been a Bears fan for 30 years and don't think they have ever had a deep threat like Grossman to the speedy wideouts, Berrian and Bradley. But he still makes WAY too many bad throws. Into double coverage, off the back foot (a mechanics problem they should have fixed by now), panicky throws under pressure. He has been instrumental in winning some games for them and has also taken them out of the two games they have lost. Not to mention that Arizona game that was won purely by the defense and special teams. That won't work in the playoffs when you have to bring your A game against good teams every week. Up and down doesn't cut it, nor are the Lions, Packers, et al on your playoff schedule. Hence the extreme nervousness about Rex here. He's a likeable kid, by all accounts hard working, and for sure he has the potential. But is he ready?
