Hello again,

>Yes, we did talk, I remember you.

I was just joking, Naomi :^). Of course I remember you! :^)
It's just been a few months since I've been on UT. We're really
busy with multiple Intranet and Internet-based apps and whatnot.
Things have slowed down a bit, so now I get to work on our VFP
code again. That is, our VFP code is being used production, but
we will make additions and change a few things up for our end users
when necessary.

>Yes, it's a valid comment. It's a good idea to re-build indexes with some frequency...

Hmmm. Anyone know if there is a programmatic way of doing this, as in
"this table has a certain size index" or "this table is being accessed very
frequently, so let's do a rebuild of the index files?" I'm wondering if VFP
has something like this built in?

>I'm not sure how the indexes got corrupted here, but once I fixed them, they worked...

Glad to hear that you solved the problem.

>>Hmmm. Don't know. Since I'm not too busy today, I'll see if I can write a test program and find out.

Had to go to a meeting, so didn't get a chance to check and see what gives. I'll hack a small
piece of code, test it, and fill you in tomorrow on how it worked under VFP 9 SP1. BTW, do
you know if SP2 is out, or is it still "some time next year?"

>Thanks and thanks again for helping me to go in the right direction...

No problem, Naomi! I learned many years ago (I'm 47; programming since age 10 or so) that
programmers need to stick together and give each other a hand. It's most definitely give
and take, although I believe most of the folks here -- if not all! -- would rather share
their knowledge and give. I know I get enjoyment out of helping others :^).

Regards,

Randall

I eat spaghetti code out of a bit bucket while sitting at a hash table! Someone
asked me if I needed salt, and I said, "I'm not into encryption." :^)
