We are actually further north than Toronto, but get milder winters thanks to those Mexicans. We have very long days in Summer. Up North in my home town of Liverpool (about the same lat as Edmonton), they get c. another half-hour. When I worked on the Isle of Man ferries (out of Liverpool), once out on the Irish Sea (in July - not mid-summer, note), it was still blue on the horizon at 11 pm.

The back of our house has a SW aspect. In mid-summer the sun rises to the NE and sets to the NW, thus illuminating the front of the house morning and evening (It always pleases me the 1st day I notice that). Now the sun rises and sets only over the sea, to the south

>I love those long days but have to have it dark (very) to sleep. 24 hours of sunlight would drive me nuts! I also hate driving home from work in the winter in the dark (which I do now).
