From your description, it could be a hardware problem. A system
will act extremely flaky like this when CPU fan is broken. Usually
you'll see things like: mouse jumps or locks up; typing disappears;
programs freeze. Take the top off and see if the CPU fan is spinning.

Also, do you have automatic updates turned on? If not, do so now :^).
Every 20 seconds or so, your machine will be port scanned while you're
on the Internet. If flaws in your setup are found, the spammers will
definitely take advantage of the situation by installing Malware, Spyware,
Adware, and a lot of other forms of ilk. Download AVG's anti-virus and
anti-spyware, then scan your machine. This could also be interferring
with VFP.
