Every time I read a post like this I wonder why VFP'ers (very general statement) always look at .Net as the next environment for their future. Yet when I check the job sites I see Java winning 5 to 1 (most of the time it is more). And when I check survey sites I again find .Net losing to other languages. Check out:
http://www.tiobe.com/index.htm?tiobe_indexPython is beating C#, and Java is beating all of them.
.Net is 4 to 5 years old at this point why has it not taken the programming world by storm? There must be some reason! After all M$ has spent millions on marketing. BTW this is Millions more that Python has spent on marketing and C# still loses.
So I suggest Mark that you check other languages. They will all be uphill learning curves. You may find that .Net is not the best bet. M$ has lost many times in the market.
As a VFP'er I say stay with VFP until you have a little time under your belt with a different platform - what ever you choose.
