I am in the market for an HDTV right now and I have alwasy favored Sony TVs. But after some research I have found that the LG LCD is really high class running at a contrast ratio of 1600:1 while Sony's are around 1200:1. Plus LG tends to priced lower.

Also in my research I found a bit of info that indicated that over 37" LCDs are not the preferred technology. Plasmas get high ratings for the larger sizes, however they have a shorter average life span than both LCD and DLP. The comparisons seemed to favor the DLP rear projection units at the over 37" size and the LCD at or below 37"
