Hi Jim

while I am with you in the following points
>How would it hurt to have better fuel economy in cars and trucks?
>How would it hurt if solar and wind and hydrogen became cheaper, more efficient and more popular?.. Or if geo-thermal could be more widely harnassed?

and even in theory in the next point, in practice I have to say
>How would it hurt to re-cycle more and more and to ensure that more and more of what we buy is better designed for re-cycling?

In germany we have IMHO nowadays ridicolous structures in waste disposal and bottle/can pledge. What started as separating paper from other garbage has grown into energy inefficient and costly ways of separation and disposal and the more growth of half-governmental disposal industry. Worse than before<g>...

>How would it hurt if mass transit was made more effective and efficient and was far more integrated into our regular infrastructures?

Mass transit is operating at a larger scale in europe. But there is a definite cut off point where individual transit is more econimical, even with all the taxes burdened on it over here. And any comparison has to keep the population density in mind, which favors mass transport over here.

regards
