How Can I Send Direct E-Mails?

Thank you for the link, definatly got me started in the right direction. I mocked up a quick bit of code in my VB.Net app and so far so good...but... I keep getting a connection error stating that the server is not "responding correctly."

Do you know of any way to lookup the proper E-Mail Server to directly connect to based on the domain suffix of an E-Mail address? Maybe I am connecting to the wrong servername or maybe even the wrong port?
