What is the mix of OSes for the file server and workstations?

I seem to remember some locking incompatibility of the server is XP and workstations are lesser. I wonder if this could be similar?

>I think its sad that I have to enclose APPEND BLANK or INSERT in a TRY/CATCH block. I just had 2 of the 5 yearly occurences happened in the past 2 nights. I am looking forward to it happening again tonight when most of the processes will run. Incidentally, these recent occurences coincided with a hardware and OS (2000-2003) upgrades.
