Peter,

I understand what you are suggesting. I just don't agree. The twit filter, if someone chooses to use it, does exactly what they expect it will do, and it is their problem if they miss information due to filtering someone.

I also can imagine that if I were to filter someone I don't think I want them notified that I have filtered them. If I want them to know I can send them a private message telling them.

The one time I did filter someone it was because their questions were annoying due to the fact that every one of them was clearly answered in the help file and they were just too lazy to look it up. When I set the filter on them I had no desire of them knowning I had filtered them. I had no desire to have them feel insulted or anything else, I just didn't want to see their posts.

I think that if the person doing the filtering wants to notify the person they are filtering then they can do that. I don't think having the UT automatically notify someone is of any benefit to either party.

As we saw in the thread from Naomi, someone who is filtered can find out of the filter. So there is no need for UT to automatically notify them. The person doing the filtering has plenty of means to notify the person they are filtering with any comment they choose to make, so again having the UT do something automatically does not offer any improvement of functionality.

I am sure there are plenty of folks here who have been filtered by someone and they have no idea it is in place. An automatic notification may do nothing but cause those people angst over something they don't need to be concerned about.
