I have a client who uses Crystal Reports all the time to do reporting off VFP tables. She has written some scripts to automate the running of these reports. I am not sure if this is some sort of scripting within Crystal or she is using a third party product (I know she does use Automate for automating some things, but I'm not sure if that's what she uses for the Crystal reports). It seems that if I change the structure of a table, Crystal stops and warns the user. This throws things off since her scripts don't (can't?) take this into account. These structure changes are always just new fields, not changes to existing fields, so this would normally not bother any true VFP product. I have no idea why this upsets Crystal so much, why it feels the need to display this warning, or if this warning can be avoided completely. Can someone familiar with Crystal shed some light on this issue? If the warning can't be avoided, it sure seems to be a stupid feature to me. Structures change. As long as Crystal can still find the data it expects, I'm not sure why it would feel compelled to warn the users about every structure change.
